[Three] Some Say the Devil is Dead... Wait, There He is

[Anew has resisted falling asleep long enough. Finally she has to succumb to its effects and she sleeps. For three hours, three minutes, and three seconds her dreams are plagued with nightmares. After that time has passed she awakes...]


[Anew awakens in her room on the ship. She is startled and looks around. The room is nearly dark. Slowly she realizes that there are figures lying on the floor. Slowly she inches closer to look. She recoils in horror when she sees. Various members of the Ptolemy lay dead on the floor. Feldt, Lasse, Ian, Sumeragi, Tieria, Allelujah, Setsuna. All of them are dead.]

[Shaking she tries to get up and find Lyle since in all likely he is in danger.]

Going somewhere?

[She spins and suddenly spots two other people, one standing and one sitting in a chair.] Revive! Ribbons!

Expecting someone else?

[Anew stumbles backwards and falls back onto the bed she had woken up on. She sits up, shaking. She speaks again, her voice shaking.] G-get ou-out of here.

Oh I don't think so. We can't let you keep degrading our kind by pretending you are human.

I never claimed I was human!

But you insisted convorting with them, especially that foolish human. Lockon Stratos.

[Anew looks back at the bodies on the floor, which with varying amounts of blood.] Why did you kill them?!

We didn't kill them... You did.

[Anew is visibly startled by that. She puts one hand behind herself to brace herself, but she quickly pulls it away when her hand touches something cold and metallic. She looks down. It's a gun. She looks back at Ribbons and Revive.] But I could have...

[A moment later, Lyle walks in. He looks at the bodies then at her.]

Anew...

Lyle, you need to get out of here!

[Her hand is reaching back towards the gun without her control. Even in the dark, Ribbons' eyes can be seen glowing yellow and hers are as well. The gun is in her hand, but Lyle hasn't moved. After a few moments of struggling, Anew manages to break Ribbons' control.] Lyle! Run! Please!

If you aren't going to do it yourself...

[Lyle starts to move backward out of the room when a gun shot sounds. Anew covers her head in her hands then looks up when something thuds on the floor. Lyle has joined the others on the floor and Healing Care stands just behind where Lyle had been standing.]

No... Lyle...

Good job, Healing.

Now... to deal with her.

[Anew looks at Ribbons and Revive. Ali Al-Saachez has now joined them, standing behind Ribbons. Anew leaps up and runs toward the door of the suite, pushing Healing out of the way to get there. However, she can't get the door to open. Another shot fires and Anew falls this time.]

[Hallucinate to repeat in 3...2...1...]

[she clings to him, afraid to let him go. she's silent a few moments]

[she sighs. she doesn't really want to tell him, but also knows it is wrong to not tell him.]

I'm an Innovator. Ribbons gave me false memories, suppressed my memories of being an Innovator and had me join Celestial Being. Since you don't know what happens, I probably still don't have my memories of being an Innovator back in your time. I just want you to know that I really do love you and I want to be with you.

[she's not going to mention the outcome because she doesn't want to upset him]

[He's quiet for a few moments, his eyes closed as he thinks this over. So his suspicions had been right after all.]

[She looks up at him, looking shocked.]

It was just a guess, really. Mostly with the way you were spacing out all the time, I... [trails off]

[he looks directly into her eyes]

Don't mention it. [he sighs slightly.] I guess I'll have to deal with that back home when I come to it. But I'm glad that you told me.

[she kisses him back. When they move apart, she takes his hand.]

I'm glad you wouldn't.

[She glances back at the door then looks back at Lyle.]

Perhaps we should go someplace else.

[looks at their surroundings] Yeah. It's not exactly the most romantic place.
